Can the Mole Removed Grow Back?

People can have mole removal surgery for cosmetic reasons or skin cancer concerns. One of the most concern that patients who had mole removal surgery are “Can the mole removed grow back?”. In this post, we will search for the answer to this question.

First of all, I will give you good news, if a common mole is removed completely, there is no way to grow back. However, in some cases, if some mole cells were left behind after the mole removal surgery, patients may experience the regrowth of a mole. But, don’t worry, regrowth moles aren’t a sign of cancer. If you noticed that the mole that you already removed with surgery, starts to growing back you should contact your doctor.

Characteristic of a Cancerous Mole

After the mole removal surgery, you can think that I totally get rid of the mole that I don’t want. But, If there is any mole cell left behind after the surgery, the mole can grow again. So, there is always a benefit to checking the mole removed area. If you have any of these given bellows, you should contact your doctor;

  • If the borders of the mole have become irregular in appearance,
  • If the mole has become darker, or multi-colored such as brown, black, blue, white, or red,
  • If there is an asymmetry or irregular shape,
  • If the mole has changed in appearance over time such as if it is become raised, inflamed, or bleeds easily.

All in all, I can say that again there is no way to grow back removed mole unless there is any mole cells left behind the surgery. Also, if you have any of those mentioned charecteristic of cancerous mole you shoul contact with your doctor.
